Book Notes - Let Your Life Speak by Parker Palmer

This small, easy to read book, opens up a way to slow down and listen to our inner voice and find our vocation. Palmer urges us to be our own, connected authority, listening to our own lives for guidance. This is specifically helpful to Enneagram type 6's that struggle to trust their inner voice.*
He describes vocation in relation to our authentic, true self, and that many of us take a dark journey or pilgrimage to get there. On page 92, he illustrates how the Quaker clearness committee works. In our world of various forms of therapy or support that tend toward "fixing our problems", the Quaker clearness committee provides a fresh way to help us get connected with our inner voice.
My favorite quote from this book is "Frederick Buechner asserts when he defines vocation as "the place where your deep gladness meets the world's deep need."

This book creates a comfortable blend of inner knowledge and connectedness. I would recommend this book to anyone that feels that they are stuck or that they've stalled out, wanting to find a way to make a difference in the world or find more meaningful work.
