One day at a time

My earliest memories are about my parents and their friends hanging out together.  One specific memory I have is sitting on the floor with my mom and her best friend, while my mom sang a song she wrote.  I heard her sing her songs many times, but I have a specific memory of the first time I heard this song and I really understood what it meant.
Now that I've made a big transition in my life, letting go of one definition for success, for another, this song seems to
grow in it's meaning in my life.
Thanks mom for your creativity, your style, and your grace!

One Day at a Time
A long time ago when I was younger, I used to sit and ponder,
what did my life mean to me?
Then one day it suddenly hit me, all this time I had wasted wondering,
my young life was quickly passing me by.

Chorus:
So I decided to live one day at a time, yesterday's wrongs have all gone by,
tomorrow's troubles haven't as yet arrived.
I decided to do my own thing baby, stand  up for what I believe in, and
sit down long enough to listen to a friend

Some day we'll all be older.  We're gonna look back and wonder,
what did my life mean to me?  I don't think yours will be empty,
if you can look back and say, I lived my life just this way.

Chorus:
So I decided to live one day at a time, yesterday's wrongs have all gone by,
tomorrow's troubles haven't as yet arrived.
I decided to do my own thing baby, stand  up for what I believe in, and
sit down long enough to listen to a friend.
